Life Update (Bigtime)

Why, hello! It’s been a really long time since my last post. I’ve wanted to write an update for many months now to explain why I’ve been MIA but kept putting it off. Now I have the time, so here goes!

I’ve had to set my blog aside for a bit. Not because I wanted to, but because between everything else going on in my life, I realized that there simply isn’t enough room or time for everything. (And that’s hard to admit as a type A person, believe me!) I’ve accepted it and did some shifting around of priorities to compensate.

Here’s the deal…

My main focus (and time suck) over the past year has been working toward my MBA. It’s been an incredible experience, but juggling work, night class, group projects and good old fashioned studying leaves practically zero time for anything else.

I’ll be honest – there have been times when I’ve wanted to throw in the towel, because oh man, university is way harder at 30 than 20, simply because of all the other “adult” stuff going on…career, business trips, owning a home, family obligations, etc. All that being said, I’m happy I’m doing it and finally have all the core courses under my belt. Now that it’s just electives left, it should be smooth(er) sailing!

But that’s not all that’s been going on. This next one’s a biggie…

That’s me!

As I write this, I’m 37 weeks pregnant (!). That’s not a typo – I never officially announced it on my blog and time just sort of went by. Baby will be making his or her appearance very soon and we’re beyond excited!

That’s the other reason I’ve been light on the blogging this year, even between semesters. I couldn’t even look at a Brussels sprout for the first few months, let alone cook and shoot healthy recipes! During the first trimester, all I could eat was bread, cheese, soup, goldfish crackers and yogurt. Oh, and lots and lots of orange juice and lemonade (pure sugar, I know!). I was back to my normal self in the second trimester (ahh), but the third has been a mix of ravenous hunger followed by bursting fullness thanks to a pint-sized stomach (blah).

So, yeah…between pregnancy, school and work, something had to give. I enjoy reading other bloggers’ pregnancy food chronicles, but it just didn’t happen for me. Taking time off from blogging makes me sad and I definitely notice the hole it’s left because I love it so much, but that’s something I’ll have to deal with.

So what’s next? I’ve already wrapped both school and work (yay!) and have used my newfound free time to shop and cook meals ahead for Christmas, pick up last minute baby stuff and clean the house from top to bottom.

I’m hoping to write some fresh posts in the new year while I have a break from school, but there’s no telling what kind of lifestyle this little baby has in store for us! (Though I’m told it will involve very little sleep.) In the meantime, I’m still active on social media, so keep in touch on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (@ricottaradishes) and Pinterest.

Until next time. Happy holidays, everyone!

I’m so impressed by how well you seem to be balancing so many big plates! I also hate to let something go unattended to but it sounds like of all the things in your life, the blog was the right one to ignore. Congrats on the little addition to your family!
