On Monday I brought you a list of healthy vegetarian hot dog toppings to pile on your next veggie dog (or regular hot dog, if you’re keeping things classic). It’s the perfect cheat sheet if you’re already getting tired of the old ketchup, mustard and relish routine but want something a little healthier and less processed. It’s all about fresh flavour here!
Using this list, I came up with three fun and easy topping combinations that are tasty and nutritious. First up is this super-simple Greek veggie dog. It’s topped with fresh diced tomato and cucumber, thinly sliced red onion and–yup–Greek yogurt.
If Greek yogurt sounds a little strange for a hot dog, you have to give it a try before you judge! It’s no weirder than cheese or mayo, but it has a delicious, tangy taste that really jives with the fresh vegetables.
For the sake of simplicity I stuck to these four ingredients, but to take this Greek dog over the top, add a sprinkle of crumbled feta and some sliced black olives. Not a bad way to liven up a plain old hot diggity dog!
